Adam Slagell
Adam Slagell joined ESnet in 2018 as Chief Security Officer. Previously he served as the director of the Cybersecurity and Networking Division and Chief Information Security Officer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), where he was also the XSEDE Security Officer, served on the University of Illinois IT Leadership Team Security Working Group, and developed the Blue Waters security architecture. He was also a PI and security researcher of several projects, most notably the Bro (now Zeek) project and inaugural Bro (Zeek) Leadership Team chair. These grants for Bro (Zeek) were instrumental to developing Bro 2.0 and above, as well as to the founding of Corelight.
Slagell received an M.S. in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.S. in mathematics from Northern Illinois University (NIU), and a B.S. in mathematics from NIU. Select publications from his prior research are available on his LinkedIn profile.
